NLP Workstation: English-Finnish Translation Engine

Features

Translates text from English into Finnish.
Possible to translate text files in the eBooks function.

A Finnish version of WordNet is used as a source for over 50,000 Finnish terms.

System Requirements

At least 1 GHz processor with at least 256 MB of RAM.

Java or JRE (1.4.2 or newer) must be installed on your computer.  If not already installed, download it from http://java.com/en/index.jsp

Platforms

Tested on different Windows versions and on Linux.
Since Java is platform-independent, this should work on other operating systems as well.

Java Web Start

JWS is included in the latest JRE.
JWS has a feature that it automatically checks whether there are updates available on the server.  When a user starts NLPWS, new versions are automatically updated on the user's workstation.

On Windows, NLPWS can also be launched from the Start Menu or from a desktop icon.

Updates (to the current version)

Every two months.  Mainly additions to the Finnish lexicon and changes to the parser and to the translation algorithms.
